When PDR came to CFR ('Personal Defence Readiness™ Intro Course - Incorporating The S.P.E.A.R. System™')

How do you follow an epic morning at CrossFit Reading on Saturday?

We held a 'Personal Defence Readiness™ Intro Course - Incorporating The S.P.E.A.R. System™' with Zeb Glover, that’s what we did.

Most of us, myself included, have all had some passion for martial arts and self defence. Way back when I wanted to be a ninja and spent hours trying to launch a throwing star made in metal work, through to doing the traditional stuff, then teaching Arnis, Thai boxing and learning BJJ briefly, and dabbling in MMA all had been with the intent of developing the knowledge to defend myself.

The PDR workshop is NOT a martial arts workshop. It is a workshop that introduces you to personal safety and awareness. Having now completed this workshop, I can say it is one of the best workshops I have been on and one that is also one of the most educational and potent in providing skills that are immediately usable by anyone. Our workshop attendance comprised of a third females, who were able to use the skills learnt as effectively as some of our males who were larger and much heavier…and apply those skills to said males

It can be easy to get caught in the hype, but from a CrossFit base where we like to see results and have some degree of evidence of the potency of a system, we certainly gained this from the PDR Intro course. On top of this, the workshop was led by Zeb Glover along with fellow instructor Max Lobatto, who represented the SPEAR system superbly making for a really fun and entertaining workshop. Also, we were very pleased to have in the CFR Box, Miles of CrossFit Hove helping out, and with some of his fellow members also gaining life changing skills. Thanks to everyone who came and supported the workshop.

A most excellent day.
