'It's like Christmas eve every week at the mo...and for this week please Santa can I have R4T thank you no more AMRAP

The above is a quote from our Team CFR member Sav regarding the CrossFit Games Open qualifiers.

The CrossFit Open Games qualifier has for CrossFit Reading just been amazing.
I’m not talking about amazing in the 'we’re top of table amazing', but for so many other great reasons. The Games has given everyone a chance to take part in the greatest fitness competition on the planet. ANYONE, of ANY ability at our box (and any other affilaite for that matter) could take part. And even for those that don't, they still get to be part of it by supporting their fellow CFR WOD warriors.

But why bother?

Because it feels good to be giving your best and that’s all that matters.
Not just that, there’s nothing like the smell of competition nerves to push people to their limits and do things they thought they  were not capable of.

The Games Open at CFR have made members who were not originally CrossFitters into firm believers and follower. It’s given everyone the chance to feel and be part of a team -  Team CFR.

This all started from 11.1, and now our unofficial Saturday Games Open smackdown continues to get bigger and better.

WOD 11.2 saw the gang tackle:

AMRAP 15 minutes
9 x Deadlifts 70kgs/50kgs
12 x Hand release push ups
15x Box jumps 24”/20”

What amazing programming again from Games organisers. A WOD that everyone can do, but takes no prisoners regardless of how fit you are.

Saturday 2nd of April saw some amazing efforts. Leading the way at CFR was Alex Ballard, with 433 points. Put another way, that’s over 12 rounds – 108 deadlifts, 144 push ups and lots of box jumps. It also showed the potential of some of our new CrossFitters, with Jay tearing through this one (Jay only started to CrossFit in the last couple of months)

Saturday 9th -11.3. 'It’s just 5 minutes'

AMRAP 5 minutes
Squat Clean to overhead 75kgs/50kgs

A lot of people saw this WOD and cheered, a chance for worshippers of the Srength God to show their stuff
A lot of people who saw this also groaned. It was ‘heavy,’ for some it was the heaviest they may have lifted. None the less, when Saturday came, we saw a spectrum of performances with some people attempting to clean this the Rx weight for the first time. Some failed some maxed. But what can’t be denied was the effort. We even had Caz, one of our CFR girl members submitting an attempt for the team out in Kenya!!! Top points to Mike Palmer (aka Mad Mike aka Adonis aka 'MAdonis') who shreded 29 rounds. Also, shout out to Gareth, who strapped up a bad knee and gave his best to stay in the comp and give the Team some valuable points. And a mention for Jay and Claire, our Games Open husband and wife. You are all doing us proud.

A lot of folk didn’t feel right for well over 5 mintues after this one...

And already, Tuesday night has come around and there are going to be folks not sleeping, wondering what's in store for 11.4. Whatever, if it's going to be like the previous 3 rounds, it's going to be a whole lot of fun here at CrossFit Reading
