The Crossfit Community
What we (CrossFitters) do is vastly different to other training regimes. Due to the exercises used and the workout perscriptions our sessions are more intense, work a variety of muscles and give you excellent results. You will not use machines or perform bicep curls, hamstring curls, tricep extensions or any other isolation exercises. Why? because on their own they have no place in everyday life.
CrossFit uses basic functional movement patterns such as:
We then add weight to some of these movements and adapt them to increase the workload. We then carry out exercises such as:
All of these exercises are put together and carried out in a shorter high intensity workout. Working at higher intensity means greater aerobic and anaerobic adaptions in the body and in turn a higher amount of calories used.
You will never know what workout you are going to do until you turn up. That's the beauty of CrossFit. The "never say die" attitude means regardless of what kind of day you've had, how little sleep you've had or how long a workout takes you get that workout finished. It doesn't matter if it takes 10 minutes or 10 hours. The point is that you have worked your socks off and completed the workout. Your fellow athletes will have all gone through the same emotions and it is that togetherness which gets you through.
